about the open shutter studio
The Open Shutter is a family-oriented studio specializing in child and family portraits. By specializing we get the chance to sharpen our skills to give you a portrait that not only captures the way you look, but also captures emotion and personality. Not only will you be proud to display your images in your home, but be excited to show them off to your family and friends. Our goal is to give you the best. We strive to do better in sessions, consultations, sales presentations and in your final portrait order. We are always open to hear how we can improve.
Chris wears many hats around the studio, but her favorite is photographer. The studio has two wonderful people working with her to make your experience an enjoyable one. Judy and Wendy are the organizational part of the studio. They keep Chris on her toes, making sure things are getting done.
About the Photographer
My name is Chris Miller. I am a professional photographer specializing in child and family portraiture. I have chosen this area as my specialty because of my love of kids. I adore them at all stages: days old (tiny, yet so perfect), babies (learning more with each and every day), toddlers (happy to be moving), 2-3 year olds (showing their true personalities), 4-6 year olds (eager to please & love to have fun), 7-15 year olds (we don't think they are changing much until we realize that they aren't little kids anymore). I hope you can feel the emotion that goes into photographing these sessions.
My love of photography started before I bought my first SLR camera at the age of 10. I have been photographing professionally since 1991. In 1997, I made the decision to be home more with my daughter, Alexis Rose. Soon after that, with the help & support of family & friends and especially from the love-of-my-life & husband, Steve, I started photographing from our home. It wasn't long after that we realized that we needed more space that is why the love-of-my-life suggested we put an addition onto our home for the studio (I tell everyone it was to get the studio out and keep the peace in!).
In 1996, I was certified by the Professional Photographers of Ohio. I have been awarded a number of regional and national portrait awards. I also have been asked to speak to my collegues about my style of child photography to groups in Toledo and Lima and at the Regional Mid-East States Convention – all of which are great honors.
I have been blessed with a talent (or maybe it's many talents) to make people comfortable in front of the camera and to create an image they will cherish. I thank God every day that I am able to do what I love and to use my talent to help others. |
