ABOVE THE TREELINE is my most recent addition to the CJ Imagery website.
This is one of those mountains that I could sit and watch all day. This particular day it was fun watching the clouds and sun play chase on it's beautiful white coat. Then looking closer, you could pick out the glaciers, the blue ice that hasn't melted in years. Then the wind shows up, kicking up snow off the peaks and the face of the mountain. It is a soft plume of dust that is hit by sunshine that catches my eye. Some of those snowflakes add to the sharp edge it creates while others land to form the beautiful, untouched blanket of an unfathomable amount of snowflakes. I'm sure many skiers and snowboarders looks at this mountain as a challenge waiting to be conquered. Me, I just like being in it's presence, makes me feel it's Creator is close.
I photographed this mountain a couple years ago, I loved it then, but it was not something I wanted to hang in my house. I kept coming back to it, making slight adjustments to it, etc. Until it hit me... It was the blue sky that kept me from loving it. I converted it to black and white and now I really love it. I have it hanging in my house in a 20x40 and I could definitely go bigger, especially if I was in my forever home.
This is an image taken among the majestic mountains of the Alaska Range between Delta Junction and Paxson along the Richardson Highway. If you ever get a chance to take this route, do it. Its one of my favorite. I don't think I have ever made it through this stretch without taking a few photos. This is where I fell in love with the mountains. I have a story about this, I started writing it, but I haven't finished... it's a long one! And with lots of photographs! Keep a lookout for "MY FIRST ALASKA ROADTRIP."
It is frustrating that this image on the blog or website are not as crisp and clear as the finished product. If you order something and are not 100% happy with it, let me know so that I can make it right. I guarantee this has all the wonderful details that will make you want to look at it up close.
Enjoy!
Below is the original color version of this image. Do you like the color or black and white better?
